These old Bohemian garnets have a wonderful deep blood red colour - by candlelight they take on a particularly romantic glow

but we think it could equally possibly be Czech - certainly it's from the Austro-Hungarian empire

we think it may also relate to the German sea-faring tradition of keeping dolls in tiny coffins as a good-luck talisman
